Georgetown College appoints acting president

The Georgetown College board of trustees announced Wednesday that board of trustees member Granetta Bingham Blevins will serve as the college's acting president.

Blevins, who graduated from the college in 1980, was first elected to the board in 1992. She acted as the college's interim chief financial officer from September 2002 to May 2003.

Meanwhile, Georgetown College continues to search for a replacement for William Crouch Jr., 61, who announced in October that he would retire as president this month. Two finalists for the presidency, former Lexington Mayor Jim Newberry and Jason Rogers of Belmont University in Nashville, withdrew from consideration in May.
