Storms damage Blue Grass Airport lighting, causing some delays

June 27, 2013

Heavy rain and lightning Wednesday night resulted in property damage to airfield lighting at Blue Grass Airport, causing a handful of cancellations and delays that extended into Thursday morning, spokeswoman Louise Bowden said.

By Thursday afternoon, repairs had been completed and normal operations had resumed, Bowden said.

By 8 a.m. Thursday, about three inches of rain had fallen in Fayette County in the previous 24 hours, according to National Weather Service at Louisville.

No rainfall records were broken, forecaster Tom Reaugh said.
