The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Quaker State 400 race at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta was postponed because of rain on Saturday night.

The race has been moved to Sunday at noon.

Fans who had tickets Saturday will be allowed back into the track Sunday. The race will be televised live on TNT.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. will start on the pole after posting a record-setting qualifying time Friday night.

The race was schedule to start around 8 p.m. Saturday. When the off-and-on rain still had not stopped for good by 9:10 p.m., NASCAR officials ruled to postpone.

It takes about 90 minutes to dry the track, so even if the rain had stopped, the race would have had to begin near midnight.
