Competition gets under way at Lexington Junior League Horse Show

The Lexington Junior League Horse Show opened Monday evening at The Red Mile.

The 77th annual event, with more than 1,000 riders from the United States and Canada, will continue through Saturday, with competition starting at 6:30 p.m. daily.

According to the Junior League, the event has grown to become the world's largest outdoor American Saddlebred show, and it is the first leg of the Saddlebred "Triple Crown."

Admission is $5 through Thursday, $10 Friday and Saturday, and free for ages 6 and younger. Proceeds from the event benefit charitable and civic organizations in Central Kentucky.
