A pedestrian was hit and killed on a Georgetown street early Thursday morning.

Loretta Wallace, 22, of Georgetown was pronounced dead on the scene after authorities were called about 4:20 a.m., Georgetown police Capt. Robert Swanigan said.

A preliminary investigation showed that Wallace was walking along West Main in Georgetown when Duane Metcalf, 43, also of Georgetown, hit her, Swanigan said. Metcalf was traveling the same direction as Wallace, he said.

No charges have been filed, but an investigation is ongoing, Swanigan said.
