Gov. Steve Beshear said Friday that General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics, plans to create as many as 1,300 new jobs at call centers in Winchester and London and make "significant investments" at both places.

General Dynamics Information Technology provides information technology, systems engineering, professional services, simulation and training to customers in the defense, federal civilian government, health, homeland security, intelligence, state and local government, and commercial sectors, according to a state government news release.

Both new offices in Kentucky will provide technical assistance for implementation of the federal government's Health Insurance Marketplace, part of the Affordable Care Act. The London site will be on Old Whitley Road, and will employ as many as 1,000 people. The site in Winchester will be on Bypass Road and should include about 300 employees. The company also has approximately 400 employees at an existing office in Corbin.

General Dynamics will be staffing the new call centers with customer service representatives this summer. Prospective applicants can go to GDIT.com/careers online and enter "Kentucky" as the location on the job search page.

A spokesman for General Dynamics could not be immediately reached to detail the pay levels and benefits associated with the new jobs.
