A woman working on a road crew suffered minor injuries Sunday night when a motorist hit her and then drove off, Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said via email.

The woman was restriping the road at Nicholasville and Reynolds roads for a private company about 11 p.m. Sunday when what appeared to be a blue vehicle, possibly a Toyota Camry, hit her, Roberts said.

The victim was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, Roberts said.

The vehicle apparently was damaged on the left side, and Roberts described the driver as a man with a white beard. He was wearing a hat turned backward, Roberts said.

Police are looking for the driver and the car. Police said anyone with information about the case should call (859) 258-3600.
