Alcohol played a role in a fatal wreck late Sunday in Casey County, according to a news release from Kentucky State Police.

James L. Baugh, 37, of Liberty was driving north on U.S. 27 in a 2004 Saturn when he lost control, police said. Baugh tried to regain control but overcorrected, and the vehicle turned over, police said. Baugh died at the scene.

A passenger, Samantha Dilbeck, 29, of Liberty was treated at Casey County Hospital and was released. Neither Baugh nor Dilbeck were wearing seat belts, police said.

The wreck happened a mile south of Liberty just after 11:30 p.m.
