A man from Cincinnati has been arrested in Pulaski County and accused of abusing a 2-year-old child.

The child and his family had been camping at Pulaski County Park for a family reunion on Friday.

Several witnesses said the child's mother's boyfriend, Joel Konrad, carried the child into a tent, "where they heard several slaps and strikes," according to a news release from the Pulaski County sheriff's office.

When the boy left the tent, he had injuries to his face. The sheriff's office said he had "substantial bruising and redness" to his head, face and buttocks.

He was treated Friday night at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital and placed in the care of family members, according to the release.

Konrad, 28, has been charged with first-degree criminal abuse, alcohol intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was taken to the Pulaski County Detention Center.
