Jessamine County: Masters of Masters workshop this weekend

Main Event Martial Arts Academy is hosting the first Masters of Masters weekend workshop Friday-Sunday at 114 South Main Street, Nicholasville.

The workshop will showcase the talents of some of the world's top masters and grand masters and serve as a fundraiser for the non-profit organization, The Bonsai Foundation, which is dedicated to offering martial arts to underprivileged kids and families.

The event will feature world-renowned masters and grand masters, such as Hanshi Frank Dux, Israel Gomez, Ashida Kim, Len Kirschbaum, Michael Kinney and Tony Ramey.

Adult education back-to-school luncheon Aug. 14

Jessamine County Adult Education will hold a back-to-school student luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 14. Anyone interested in attaining a GED, including current students and past students, is welcome to come by to complete pre-testing and to register for fall classes. Lunch will be provided by Jimmy Johns. The school is located at 200 Computrex Drive in Nicholasville. Call (859) 887-9052.
