Brent Harney awarded rank of Eagle Scout

August 6, 2013

Brent Harney

Brent Harney, 18, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor given by the Boy Scouts of America, on July 21. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 473 led by James Roberts at Southland Christian Church. Brent, the son of Diane and Bruce Harney of Lexington, graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in May.

For his Eagle project, Brent led troop members and parent volunteers in constructing shadow boxes for residents in the Alzheimer's unit of the Thompson Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore. The shadow boxes will be filled with personal mementos and mounted outside residents' doors to assist them in finding their own rooms.
