Police were looking for a man Friday night after a woman was shot at a Lexington club.

The incident occurred about 8:30 p.m. at the Swahili Elks Lodge, 1203 Versailles Road, according to police. Several shots were fired, according to preliminary reports.

The woman was rushed to the University of Kentucky Hospital, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to police. Officers said her condition had been upgraded from critical to stable.

No names had been released as of 10 p.m.

Officers described the suspect as a black man in his 50s, wearing a dark T-shirt and blue jeans. He was initially reported to be in a white Chevy Trailblazer. But police said late Friday night that he had left the vehicle with a family member on Silver Maple Way and that officers were searching for him on foot in the downtown area.
