ESPN's 'GameDay' to visit Rupp for Florida-Kentucky game

Herald-Leader Staff ReportAugust 14, 2013

ESPN has selected the Florida-Kentucky matchup on Feb. 15 as one of its eight College GameDay stops during the 2013-14 men's basketball season.

This will mark the fifth time GameDay, ESPN's weekly preview show, has visited Rupp Arena and the second year in a row.

The Southeastern Conference game between Kentucky and Florida is scheduled for a 9 p.m. tip-off on ESPN.

The preview show will air live at 11 a.m. and again later that day at 8 p.m. leading into the opening tip.

Since ESPN launched a college basketball GameDay show in 2004-05, games involving the Wildcats have been featured seven times previously. This season's game will be Florida's sixth appearance.

Last season, UK beat Missouri 90-83 in overtime on the night GameDay visited Rupp Arena.

Last year, a crowd of 15,087 attended the morning GameDay show, the second-largest ever. UK also holds the record for the largest crowd in GameDay history of 22,144, set on Feb. 13, 2010.

Other games featured on GameDay this season are:

Jan. 18: Temple vs. La Salle; Louisville at Connecticut

Jan. 25: Michigan at Michigan State

Feb. 1: Duke at Syracuse

Feb. 8: Gonzaga at Memphis

Feb. 22: Arizona at Colorado or UCLA at Stanford

March 1: Kansas at Oklahoma State

March 8: North Carolina at Duke
