Wild Turkey releases 'accidental' bourbon-rye blend

Wild Turkey announced Thursday the release of "Forgiven," a blend of rye and bourbon that the Lawrenceburg distillery says was created by a crew that accidentally dumped barrels of one into another.

The limited release, which is 78 percent 6-year-old bourbon and 22 percent 4-year-old rye, will retail for the suggested price of $49.99.

"Wild Turkey is known for its uncompromising quality and taste in every bourbon and rye expression we make," Eddie Russell, Wild Turkey associate master distiller, said in a news release. "Much to the distillery team's relief, Forgiven highlights the best of both worlds to create a one-of-a-kind taste that will appeal to both bourbon and rye aficionados. I was mad when I first discovered our crew's mistake, but once I tasted it, all was Forgiven."
