South Lexington 10s fall in Series

The South Lexington 10-year-old All-Stars sent the Cal Ripken World Series championship game into extra innings before losing 5-4 to Visalia, Calif., on Saturday in Ocala, Fla.

South Lexington scored a run in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the score 4-4. It stayed that way through the regulation six innings. Visalia’s Robert Perez led off the seventh inning with a single, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored the go-ahead run on a single by Luke Jewett, who was named Player of the Game.

Jewett went 2-for-3 with three RBI and scored a run. He also pitched the final 3 1/3 innings, holding the Ohio Valley Regional champions to one run.
