Marion County girls' basketball coach Trent Milby.

Trent Milby, who led Marion County's girls to an undefeated record and the state championship, was named head coach for the Berea College women's basketball team on Monday.

Milby compiled a 208-36 record in seven seasons at Marion County.

The Lady Knights were 39-0 and finished fourth in USA Today's national poll.

Milby was named the 2013 Naismith National Women's Coach of the Year.

"His previous coaching success and résumé shows his incredible ability as a coach and his ability to develop players," Berea Athletics Director Mark Cartmill said.

Milby said he's looking forward to taking the next step in his career.

"I look forward to working with the young ladies at Berea College, to building a championship atmosphere, and most importantly, to mentoring my players to be good basketball players but even better citizens," he said. "That's what Berea is all about, and that's what I'm about. This is a great match."
