Woman with lymphoma can't pay rent

Jennifer Newton, a case manager at the Senior Citizen's Center, is assisting a single woman who needs $500 to pay her rent. The woman worked as a housekeeper until she was diagnosed with lymphoma. The disease was treated and she has applied for Social Security disability benefits. At this time she has no income and her savings are almost depleted. Her landlord is working with her to prevent eviction. Once the Social Security disability benefits are approved, she will again be financially stable.
