Military Notes: Goldstein, Bowlds promoted; MOAA meeting Sept. 6

Graduations

■ Army Reserve Pfc. Jordan C. Lewis has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Lewis is the son of Carnelians and James Lewis of Lexington. He is a 2012 graduate of Madison Central High School.

Promotions

Roy C. Goldstein has been promoted to the rank of technical sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. Goldstein is a non-commissioned officer-in-charge assigned to the 436th Airlift Wing at Dover Air Force Base, Del. The staff sergeant has served in the military for 13 years. He is the son of Gail and Marc Goldstein of Richmond and is a 2000 graduate of Madison Central High School.

Joseph D. Bowlds has been promoted to the rank of sergeant major in the U.S. Army.

Bowlds is a woodwind group leader assigned to the United States Army Field Band at Fort George G. Meade, Md. The sergeant major has served in the military for 16 years.

He is the son of Ruth Johnson of Lexington and Marnell Bowlds of Cocoa, Fla.

meetings

The Military Officers Association of America, Bluegrass Chapter, will hold its quarterly meeting at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 6. The featured speaker will be Col. Arthur L. Kelly (Ret.), a U.S. Army Korean veteran who also served in World War II and Vietnam. The meeting honors veterans of the Korean War. Those who want to take part in the meeting should call Pat Jones at (859) 271-2606, or email ppatcatfan@aol.com. Non-members and guests are welcome. A box lunch will be available for $8.
