Big Red Mile weekend gets started Thursday night

Harness racing resumes at The Red Mile on Thursday night with the final preliminary round of the Kentucky Sires Stakes for 2-year-olds highlighting the card.

First post is 7 p.m.

The first five races on Thursday's card are the five Kentucky Sires Stakes races, with both pacing divisions and the filly trotters going postward in single $30,000 races, and the colt trotters divided into a pair of $15,000 splits.

The 3-year-olds will be on the track for their second round on Saturday night.

The $2 million Kentucky Super Night, featuring eight $250,000 finals, is scheduled for Sept. 1.
