Arts charity names SCAPA student to lead outreach

August 25, 2013

Hannah Hetzel-Ebben, a sophomore at the School for Creative and Performing Arts at Lafayette High School, has been named national projects manager for heARTS Inc.

HeARTS was founded by SCAPA student Virginia Newsome in 2011. Its “mission is to provide visual and performing arts supplies and opportunities to schools and programs whose art budgets have been cut or eliminated” and “generate awareness about the importance of the arts in education and in all of our lives,” according to a news release.

Hetzel-Ebben’s duties will include identifying schools and programs that could benefit from heARTS’ assistance, being a liaison between the organization and communities it serves, and developing new programs.

According to the news release, heARTS has donated more than $100,000 of goods and services, benefiting more than 10,000 students worldwide. For more information, go to
