Lexington traffic report: Week of Aug. 26

Work done between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., unless noted.


Some congestion can be expected in the downtown area beginning at 4:30 p.m. Thursday for Central Bank Thursday Night Live at the Fifth-Third Pavilion at Cheapside Park.

The Fest of Ales from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Friday will result in the closing of Short Street between Mill Street and Upper Street.


Lanes of the following streets will be blocked as needed through Saturday for milling and paving:

Alexandria Drive between Harrodsburg Road and Garden Springs Drive;

Ark Royal Way between Westerfield Way and Severn Way;

Arrowhead Drive between Apache Trail and Harrodsburg Road;

Ashbrooke Drive between Keats Grove Lane and Megan Bay Court;

Bud Lane between Dogwood Trace Boulevard and Vale Drive;

Clearview Drive between Bradford Colony Drive and Hill N' Dale Road;

Clemons Drive between Twin Ridge Drive and Calevares Drive;

Corporate Drive;

Courchelle Court and Nakomi Drive; and

Dogwood Trace Boulevard between Bud Lane and Dresden Way.

DeRoode Street will be closed between Versailles Road and McKinley Street through Dec. 31, for work on the Newtown Pike extension project. Motorists can access the neighborhood from Merino Street to McKinley Street to Byars Alley.

Grimes Mill Road will be closed at McCalls Mill Road on the Clark County line through Dec. 31, for demolition and construction of a new bridge.

The right inbound lane of Nicholasville Road will be blocked between Tahoma Road and Johnston Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 6 - 9 p.m. through Wednesday for utility work.

The northbound lane of South Ashland Avenue will be blocked between Sunset Drive and Ashland Terrace through Aug. 30, for utility work.

One lane of St. Margaret Drive will be blocked at St. Michael Drive, at St. Christopher Drive and at St. Teresa Drive through Aug. 30, for utility work.

One lane of Wilson-Downing Road will be blocked between Camelot Drive and Lansdowne Drive through Sept. 6 for utility work.

The southbound lane of Woodland Avenue will be closed between Columbia Avenue and Rose Lane and traffic will be detoured through Monday for sewer work at the University of Kentucky.


The right lane of East Maxwell Street will be blocked at Lexington Avenue from Tuesday through Friday for utility work.

West Main Street will be blocked between North Broadway and Algonquin Street through Sept. 20 from 8 a.m. — 5 p.m. for construction.

West Short Street will be blocked at 367 West Short Street through Sept. 23, for construction.
