Friends of McConnell Springs member Drew Ingram, dressed in 1770s clothing, used a draw knife to peel bark off a log to be used to build a primitive cabin at McConnell Springs. Ingram's demonstration Monday was part of a news conference to promote the Kentucky Wood Expo, to be held for the first time in Lexington at Masterson Station Park on Sept. 20 and 21. The expo will include demonstrations, competitions and equipment displays related to the wood industry. At Monday's news conference, University of Kentucky forestry students demonstrated the ax throw, stock chainsaw, and underhand chop.
