A Lexington man died after an assault Saturday morning, and another man has been charged with his murder.

Dale Irons, 73, who lived on the 2000 block of Cambridge Drive, was found suffering from "multiple blunt impact injuries" at his home just before 8 a.m., according to police and the Fayette County coroner's office.

He was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:21 a.m., according to a news release from the coroner's office.

Claude Dalrymple, 42, was arrested and charged with his murder after police interviewed him and others at the scene, said Lt. Sam Murdock of the Lexington police.

Murdock said he could not provide any information about what prompted the assault.

He said Irons and Dalrymple "were acquaintances."
