Lex-Care: COPD patient needs help paying electric bill

September 3, 2013

Laina Miller, a case manager at Hospice of the Bluegrass, submitted a case on behalf of her client who needs $84.73 to pay his electric bill.

Miller said the man has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and suffers from chronic respiratory failure. He worked for 27 years as a dietary assistant aide and stopped working in early 2010. He and his wife fell behind on their bills because of the expense of a recent move.

Once this bill is paid, they will be able to maintain living expenses from the wife's earnings and his Social Security benefits.
