Woodford County: Margaret Ware Parrish Reading Garden at Midway Library to be dedicated Sept. 14

A dedication ceremony for the newly built Margaret Ware Parrish Reading Garden will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Midway Branch Library, 400 Northside Drive, Midway. The garden is open to the public for outdoor learning opportunities, reading and relaxing. Midway Mayor Tom Bozarth will dedicate this addition to the Midway Branch Library. Bill and Leslie Penn will provide music for the celebration. Children may create and take home a nature print with leaves, flowers and feathers.

Margaret Ware Parrish was a long-time resident of Midway who was active in the community for many years. She was past president of the Woodford County Historical Society and was also on the board of the Woodford Humane Society.

Women Republicans to hold picnic Saturday

Women Republicans of Central Kentucky will have a picnic from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday with Agriculture Commissioner James Comer, featuring live music, games, barbecue and a silent auction. The picnic will be at the home of Ron and Kathy Stocks, 141 Lighthouse Way, Midway. Cost is $25 per adult and free for children ages 12 and under. RSVP to rsvp@wrock.ws by Thursday.
