Dismas Charities of Lexington has been awarded a five-year contract to provide residential re-entry services for individuals being released from federal correctional institutions.
The contract from the Federal Bureau of Prisons is for $8 million, and it's the fourth such contract Dismas has received. Dismas in Lexington has a separate contract with the Kentucky Department of Corrections.
"Dismas is very proud of the confidence the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the Lexington community has shown in our company," Dismas President and CEO Ray Weis said.
The organization has similar re-entry contracts in 13 states. Dismas operates seven re-entry facilities in Lexington, Louisville and Owensboro.
