Garrard County Magistrate Ronnie Lane was arrested Thursday on a drug-trafficking charge, Kentucky State Police said.

Lane, 73, who has served off and on with Garrard Fiscal Court for many years, was arrested on a warrant from Jessamine County, said Trooper Paul Blanton, spokesman for the Kentucky State Police post in Richmond.

Blanton said Lane was indicted Tuesday by a Jessamine County grand jury on a charge of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

Lane was taken to the Jessamine County jail in Nicholasville, where he remains in lieu of a $10,000 bond, according to the jail website.

Lane is scheduled to be arraigned Friday before Jessamine Circuit Judge Hunter Daugherty.
