A missing teen was found safe Monday morning after he spent the night in a wooded area of southeastern Garrard County, Sheriff Ronnie Wardrip said.

Tyler Jordan, 16, became separated from a group of friends Sunday night while walking near his home. Firefighters and others searched in vain for him Sunday night near Narrow Gap Road and had planned to resume the search Monday morning.

But Jordan walked out of the woods about 8:45 a.m. Monday and knocked on the door of a home on Copper Creek Road, Wardrip said.

The teen was taken to Cartersville Volunteer Fire Department to be checked out, Wardrip said.
