A woman leading a horse into the sales ring at the Keeneland September Yearling Sales was injured Thursday when the animal kicked her in the face. The woman, Annette Davis, was taken by ambulance to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where she was listed in fair condition.

Keeneland had no comment.

"One of my girls did get kicked when she went down to wipe off his foot," said Pam Robinson of Brandywine Sales. "She probably has a broken nose. Luckily it doesn't seem to be more serious than that. The horse did not mean to kick her; it just got startled."
