September 20, 2013

Tickets for the University of Kentucky basketball teams' annual Big Blue Madness celebration will be made available Oct. 5, the school announced Friday.

Big Blue Madness, the first public showcase for the 2013-14 UK men's and women's teams, will be Friday, Oct. 18 in Rupp Arena.

Tickets, which are free, will be distributed Saturday, Oct. 5, beginning at 7 a.m. at the Memorial Coliseum ticket windows on Euclid Avenue and online at UKathletics.com and Ticketmaster.com.

There will be a limit of four tickets per person at Memorial Coliseum. Online orders, which come with a service fee, will be limited to four tickets per household. Online ticket ordering information will be available at a later date.

Fans wishing to line up and camp out ahead of time outside Memorial Coliseum are asked to do so no earlier than Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 5 a.m.

The UK athletics department will provide portable restroom facilities. The use of permanent, wooden-type structures, portable generators, propane tanks or other open flames used in cooking are prohibited. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products are not permitted.

Control cards will be issued to those camped out on Friday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. Fans will receive a maximum of four tickets per control card on Saturday morning. Fans are encouraged to start lining up for the Saturday ticket distribution between 5 and 6 a.m. on Oct. 5.

All fans must be present to obtain their control cards and only one control card per person will be accepted at distribution.

This will be the ninth time Madness has been held in Rupp Arena.

Big Blue Madness will begin at 7:30 p.m. Broadcast information will be announced at a later date.

For the fifth consecutive year, Kentucky will be introducing a No. 1-ranked recruiting class to Wildcats fans during Madness, as Aaron Harrison, Andrew Harrison, Dominique Hawkins, Dakari Johnson, Marcus Lee, Julius Randle, Derek Willis and James Young make their debuts for Coach John Calipari. They join veterans Willie Cauley-Stein, Alex Poythress, Jon Hood and Jarrod Polson to form a nucleus believed capable of competing for a national championship.

The UK women also boast some highly touted newcomers in 2013 Kentucky Miss Basketball Makayla Epps and fellow freshmen Kyvin Goodin-Rogers and Linnae Harper. They will contribute to a strong returning cast for Coach Matthew Mitchell led by All-Southeastern Conference performers DeNesha Stallworth and Samarie Walker.

The evening also figures to contribute heavily to the Cats' future, as several UK recruiting targets could be coming to Big Blue Madness.
