Lex-Care: Single mother needs help paying rent

September 25, 2013

Two cases were received at Lex-Care this week; one requesting assistance to pay rent, the other to pay a utility bill.

The first case is from Laura Hartman, a case manager at a Fayette County Family Resource Center. Her client is a single mother of a 5-year-old child who needs $500 to pay her rent. She lost her job when she was diagnosed with stomach problems that required surgery in June. She has started a new job but will not receive her first paycheck in time to pay her rent. Once her rent is paid she will be able to manage with no difficulty. Single man with two kids owes $500 bill

The second case involves a single man who contacted Tiffany Runyon, coordinator at the Family Resource Center in the Fayette County Public School System. He needs $500 to pay his electric bill.

He is the head of a household supporting two children, ages 8 and 4. One of the children is disabled and receives Social Security benefits. The household also receives food stamps.
