Military notes: Sept. 25

■ Army Cadet Kayvan S. Fakharpour has graduated from the Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps Leader's Training Course at Fort Knox. Fakharpour is a student at the University of Kentucky. He is the son of Mary Fakharpour of Lexington.

The following have graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.:

■ Army National Guard Pvt. Ashley N. Cosby is the daughter of Jennifer O'Neal of Midway. She is a 2010 graduate of Woodford County High School.

■ Army Pvt. David E. Lane III is the son of Angela Montgomery, the nephew of Dorothy Dunn, and the grandson of David Lane, all of Lexington. He is a 2009 graduate of Bryan Station High School.

■ Army Pfc. Bartolo J. Ramirez is the son of Jaimy Tribble of Berea. He is a 2012 graduate of Madison Southern High School.


James J. Murray has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force. Murray is a deputy of contingency plans branch assigned to Headquarters, Pacific Air Force. The new lieutenant colonel has served in the military for 15 years. He is the son of Jim and Rose Murray of New Castle. He is a 1993 graduate of Henry County High School and received a bachelor's degree in 1998 from the University of Kentucky.
