A man's body was found Wednesday in a pond near Clay City, Powell County Coroner Hondo Hearne said.

James William Osborne, 64, was pulled from a pond on Lofty Heights Road, Hearne said. Osborne was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:36 p.m. Wednesday. Lofty Heights Road runs parallel to the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway.

No foul play is suspected, but Hearne said an autopsy was scheduled for Thursday by the state medical examiner's office in Frankfort to confirm whether Osborne died by accidental drowning.

Osborne had been staying in a camper by a barn on the property, Hearne said. A neighbor, seeing lights on in the barn, went to investigate and saw shoes floating and a hand above the water line, Hearne said.

The call to dispatch was made at 1:45 p.m., he said.
