A body found Wednesday outside Hindman in Knott County was confirmed Thursday to be that of a Johnson County woman who had been missing for a week, Knott County Coroner Jeff Blair said.

The state medical examiner's office in Frankfort identified Christina Renee Barnett, 34, through dental and medical records and fingerprints, Blair said.

The cause of death remains under investigation, he said.

A private search party looking for Barnett found her body shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday in a wooded area along Ky. 80.

Nelson Frazier Funeral Home in Martin in Floyd County is handling arrangements.
