Madison County firefighters were investigating a blaze that destroyed a cabin home on Whitlock Road early Thursday, fire officials said.

WKYT-TV reported that the homeowner had not been found on or off the property near the Kentucky River.

Madison County Fire Department officials could not be reached for comment Thursday afternoon.

Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison said he had not been called to the fire scene by 3 p.m. Thursday.

Cornelison said county officials were sending a piece of equipment to the scene that was capable of lifting large beams so officials could sift through the remains of the home.
