A Fayette County grand jury has indicted a man on a charge of murder in a 2010 Lexington shooting.

Terrence Alan Sims, 43, was indicted in the death of Stephen Kavanaugh Jr., 33.

Sims was arrested in June in Michigan. He is accused of fatally shooting Kavanaugh on June 4, 2010, on Elsmere Alley near Sixth Street. The alley runs parallel to nearby Elsmere Park.

Police officers responding to the shooting got into a foot chase with the suspected shooter, but the man got away. The indictment was returned Monday.
