Last week's winners back for more on Red Mile's final Grand Circuit weekend

October 2, 2013

The second and final weekend of Grand Circuit racing gets underway Thursday at 1 p.m. at The Red Mile.

Racing continues Friday, Saturday and Sunday with 1 p.m. post times each day. The meet concludes on Sunday with the 121st Kentucky Futurity for 3-year-olds, the third leg of trotting's Triple Crown.

Thursday's racing is highlighted by three divisions of the $266,500 International Stallion Stakes for 2-year-old trotting fillies. Two of the three winners from last weekend's Bluegrass Stakes races return for the Thursday's events.

Struck By Lindy, who will run in Thursday's fifth race, has won half of her eight career starts and amassed more than $160,000 this season for owners Mel Hartman, RAW Equine, Inc. and Adam Victor & Son Stable. Dave Miller is listed to drive for trainer R. "Nifty" Norman.

Chivaree Hanover is also looking to complete the "Lexington double" by winning on both weekends of the Grand Circuit for owner/trainer Gregg McNair. She has won three times in six outings and bankrolled $92,113. Doug McNair is back in town to drive in Thursday's 10th race.
