Alex Washington, 30, was charged with second-degree assault and kidnapping, according to the Fayette County Detention Center website.

A man wanted in the kidnapping and assault of a Lexington woman turned himself in to detectives Wednesday night, Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.

Alex Washington, 30, was charged at 10 p.m. Wednesday with second-degree assault and kidnapping, according to Roberts and jail records.

A woman told police she was tied up, gagged and beaten with a tire iron Sept. 24 in the basement of Washington's home on Dalna Drive in the Eastland Park area, court records said. Washington is set to appear at 1 p.m. Thursday in Fayette District Court.

Washington's wife, Jennifer, pleaded not guilty last week to a kidnapping charge related to the case. Washington had eluded police until Wednesday night.

The Washingtons were being held Thursday morning in the Fayette County jail.
