Two cars crashed at the intersection of North Upper and Fifth streets Saturday afternoon, then one of them crossed a vacant lot, went through a fence and hit a house.

One driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police were still trying to determine what caused the wreck, which occurred just before 3:30 p.m., said Lexington Police Lt. Sam Murdock.

Major Daniel Bellot of the Lexington Fire Department said that the family that lives in the North Upper Street house was at home when the car crashed into it, but no one was injured.

He said fire officials were still working to determine the extent of damage to the brick home. He said the family would be displaced, but he did not know for how long.
