New president named for St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington

KentuckyOne Health has named Joseph Gilene as president of St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. The move is effective Oct. 28.

Gilene takes over from John Smithhisler, who serves as president in addition to being market leader for KentuckyOne Health in Lexington. Gilene will report to Smithhisler.

Most recently Gilene served as regional vice president for the hospital management organization Quorum Health Resources in Charlotte, N.C. He has also held executive positions at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J.; Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte; Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash.; and Cincinnati Children's Hospital. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Gilene is also a certified public accountant.
