Madison County: Long-term health care workers Powell, Dean honored

October 8, 2013

The Kentucky Association of Health Care Facilities held its first Crusade for Caregivers event recently. During the event, Loretta Powell, a nurses's aide, received the Outstanding Nurse Aide of the Year award. Patricia Dean, an administrative nurse, was named the Outstanding Administrative Nurse of the Year. Both Powell and Dean work at The Terrace Rehabilitation Facility, 1043 Brooklyn Boulevard, Berea. The event recognizes outstanding caregivers and facilities in Kentucky.

Family caregiver workshop planned for Oct. 25

A family caregiver workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Madison County Extension Office, 230 Duncannon Lane, Richmond. This program will offer information about Alzheimer's disease and care giving and will also provide an opportunity to reflect, to regenerate and to gain a new perspective on care giving issues. Local and statewide experts on aging will present training designed specifically for family caregivers, so this training is not open to professionals. Registration is $10 and includes lunch. To register, call 1-800-272-3900 or email
