One person was found dead after a fire Monday afternoon at a house on East Walnut Street in Richmond.

Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison said that the condition of the body prevented him from making a positive identification, but that the woman who lived in the home, Charlotte Camper, 62, was unaccounted for.

The body was sent to Frankfort for identification.

"I have no reason to believe that it's not who we think it is," Cornelison said.

He said Camper had poor mobility. Her husband, Randall, was at work when the fire started, Cornelison said.

The body was found just inside the front door, he said.

Cornelison said the fire was "fully involved" when firefighters arrived.

"The whole inside of the house was charred very badly," he said.

Fire officials are working to determine the cause of the fire.
