A 17-year-old Madison County girl has pleaded not guilty to murdering her infant sister.

Jessica Marcum entered the plea Thursday in Madison Circuit Court, according to the Richmond Register.

The names of juvenile defendants normally are not made public.

But the Madison Commonwealth's Attorney's office said that while Marcum originally was charged as a juvenile, a judge moved her case to circuit court so that she could be tried as an adult.

Marcum is charged in the death of her 9-month-old sister, Bell Rose Marcum, in June.

Jim Warren (859) 231-3255.
