A Madison County woman was in critical condition at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center Friday night with injuries from a crash earlier in the day.

Police said Chassidy Turpin, 18, was injured about 10 a.m. Friday when her car apparently slipped off U.S. 421, also known as Battlefield Memorial Highway, and crashed in Berea.

According to officers, the northbound vehicle slipped over the edge of the roadway, then rolled over and crashed through a fence.

Turpin was thrown from the vehicle, police said.

Two small children who were belted in carseats in the vehicle were not seriously injured.

An investigation into the wreck was continuing.
