Lee County woman charged with murdering husband

Madeline Lykins, 54, of Lee County was arrested just after noon Saturday and charged with murder (domestic violence) and tampering with physical evidence.

A Lee County woman was charged with murder after police found her husband dead of gunshot wounds Friday night.

Madeline Lykins, 54, called to report the shooting at about 11 p.m. Friday, said Trooper Paul Blanton of the state police.

Officers who responded to the couple's home on Primrose Lane in Beattyville found Rex B. Lykins, 74, dead after being shot multiple times.

Blanton said officers worked "pretty much straight through the night" investigating the case.

Madeline Lykins was arrested just after noon Saturday and charged with murder (domestic violence) and tampering with physical evidence.

She was taken to the Three Forks Regional Jail.

Blanton said he had no information about a motive or the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
