The Spirit of Kentucky: California bar owners visit Four Roses to hand-select custom bourbon

October 19, 2013

LAWRENCEBURG — Seven Grand takes its bourbon seriously.

The whiskey bar, which has locations in Los Angeles and San Diego, doesn't just buy bourbon. Its proprietors want their own bourbon. So they came to Four Roses' warehouse and bottling plant in Cox's Creek in September to pick out a barrel.

They ended up buying two.

"It's a point of pride for us, we get to say to customers this is not just any bourbon, not just Four Roses, it's personal for us," said Luke Ford, managing supervisor. "It's nice to offer something that's unique."

They also do barrel selections with other bourbons, including Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace and Fighting Cock.

"We're one of the highest selling whiskey bars in the country," Ford said. "We love our whiskey."
