Ohio WR Dorian Baker commits to UK

broberts@herald-leader.comOctober 20, 2013

Mark Stoops and Vince Marrow have done it again.

Three-star wide receiver Dorian Barker announced his commitment to the University of Kentucky on Sunday. Rivals.com ranks Baker as the No. 53 wide receiver in the Class of 2014 and the No. 20 overall senior from Ohio.

Scout.com, ESPN and 247Sports all rank Baker as a three-star recruit.

UK now has 10 commitments from Ohio for the Class of 2014. Stoops and Marrow — both natives of the Buckeye State — have hit the area hard since coming to Lexington less than a year ago.

With Baker’s commitment, the Cats have six of the top 20 players from the state. Ohio State has four, Notre Dame has two, and no other school has more than one.

Baker — a 6-foot-3 prospect from Cleveland — is the fifth wide receiver from this senior class to commit to Kentucky. He joins Thaddeus Snodgrass, Blake Bone, T.V. Williams and Garrett Johnson. Both Snodgrass and Bone are considered four-star prospects.

Louisville was among the other big schools pursuing Baker, who also had offers from Vanderbilt, Illinois, Minnesota and several others.

Rivals.com ranks UK’s class at No. 7 in the nation and No. 4 in the SEC.
