A Versailles man remained at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital Tuesday after undergoing surgery for a gunshot wound.

Versailles police Lt. Daniel Clark said the victim, whose name was not immediately released, is expected to recover.

Meanwhile, police are investigating the shooting, which happened at the man's apartment on Dale Avenue about 5:25 a.m. Tuesday.

According to Clark, the victim told police that he was shot after someone entered his apartment through a back door,

But many details remain sketchy because officers had little time to interview the man before he was rushed to the hospital, Clark said. For instance, it is unclear whether a robbery actually occurred, according to Clark.

Investigators hope to get more information from the victim when he can talk but that might not occur until Wednesday or later, Clark said.
