Jessamine County: Hazardous Waste Disposal and Soap Box Derby Saturday

Jessamine County Fiscal Court and Jessamine County Environmental Services will host the 2013 Fall Haul Hazardous Waste Disposal Event from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The one-day event offers Jessamine county residents free disposal of hazardous household waste at the Jessamine County Convenience Center on Hendren Way in Nicholasville. Hazardous items that will be accepted during the event include paint, paint thinner, antifreeze, pesticides, pool cleaners, electronic waste and fluorescent tubes. Many everyday household materials, including moth balls, kitchen and bathroom cleaners, and some arts and crafts supplies are considered hazardous. Soap box derby set for Saturday

The Nicholasville Soap Box Derby will be from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Chestnut and York streets behind Town Square Bank in Nicholasville. Boys and girls will race in four divisions: ages 6-14 with homemade cars, ages 15 and up with homemade cars, ages 6-14 with kit cars, and ages 15 and up with kit cars.
