The Laurel County Sheriff's Department has charged a 27-year-old woman with burglarizing her sister's home and hitting her sister's boyfriend with a car.

Amanda Colwell of East Bernstadt was charged with second-degree burglary, first-degree wanton endangerment and second-degree assault. She was taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.

Deputies said the charges stem from a break in Tuesday at the residence of Crystal Colwell, Amanda Colwell's sister, on Philpot Road, west of London. A TV and a DVD player were taken, according to the sheriff's office.

Amanda Colwell and her boyfriend, Chris Robinson, called the sheriff's department about 10 p.m. Tuesday, saying they had located the missing items in a Chevy Lumina parked in a driveway on Hensley Road. Deputies agreed to meet them at the scene.

Before deputies could reach the location, Amanda Colwell tried to drive away in the Lumina, striking Robinson as he stood at the end of the driveway, deputies said.

Robinson was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in London for treatment.
